Hoses and Tubing

Pond hose and pond tubing essentially refer to the same piece of equipment - both allow adequate water to pass through your garden pond's pump and filter. When purchasing garden pond hose you should look for a flexible hose that won't kink or flatten when bent. Recent innovations in pond hose include re-enforced wire, which is built right into the tubing to prevent it from flattening and kinking, while remaining flexible. It's ok to pay a little more for a quality hose that won't crack and become stiff in cold weather. Any constrictions in the hose will reduce the flow of water to your filter - resulting in an unhealthy build up of harmful bacteria in your pond water. Therefore a cheap hose will only need to be replaced more often and will cost you more in the long run. Pond hose is typically sold online by the foot and in thicknesses ranging from ¾ inches up to 1½ inches. It typically costs around $2.50 per foot.
