Wooden Patio Furniture
The most prevalent wood used in the construction of patio furniture is Western red cedar. Western red cedar tends to age nicely, and a natural oil in this wood acts as a preservative making it highly resistant to rot, decay and insect mutilation. Although Western red cedar is the primary choice for patio furniture because of its sturdiness, woods such as teak, pine, cypress and mahogany are also widely used. Cedar and pine patio furniture is the most economical; while exotic woods such as teak and mahogany are more expensive. For example a cedar patio chair can be purchased for approximately $140 online; while a similar chair constructed of teak will cost almost double at $290 online.
