Electric Bug Zappers
Electric bug zappers, also known as electric mosquito traps, attract insects to an ultraviolet light surrounded by a lethal electrical grid which fries bugs on contact. Bug zappers are usually made of plastic or electrically grounded metal. They come in lantern, cylinder and rectangular cube designs, and are made up of four basic parts - exterior housing, an ultraviolet light bulb, a wire grid and a transformer. Bug zappers are known to be able to lure and kill more than 10,000 insects in a single evening, however, they are not limited to just killing mosquitoes. Any insect that is attracted to ultraviolet light will become a victim to these devices. Unfortunately, the mosquito is one type of insect that is least likely to respond to ultraviolet light.
