The Toro Company began in 1914, first as a manufacturer of tractor engines, and later switching to steam engines during the later years of WWI, in order to aid the war effort. After the war, Toro refocused on farm machinery. Toro is a leader in golf course maintenance equipment. Toro was also the first to develop a snow thrower. Toro was the turf maintenance specialist for the first Super Bowl and (in 1999) they developed the Center for Advanced Turf Technology. Today, Toro has surpassed sales of 1 billion dollars worldwide. Its line of lawn maintenance products benefits from its extensive experience in sports turf and golf fairway maintenance.
