Lawn Boy began when the son of Ole Evinrude (inventor of the outboard motor) wanted to expand the company's product line. The company has had a long, somewhat winding history intertwined with those of Toro, Evinrude and Johnson & Johnson. The Lawn Boy name signifies durability and simple practicality. Lawn Boy has recently introduced the DuraForce™, a powerful new mower with 6.5 horsepower in a 2-cycle engine. The engine also offers pollution and noise reduction that exceeds EPA standards.
