Garden Hoe
A typical garden hoe has a long handle and a flat, right-angled blade on the end so that soil can be chopped and pulled towards you. Hoes are used to weed, pick and groom the soil. Hoes come with various names such as garden hoes - which are used to groom and break up the soil; scuffle hoes - which are used to slice through weeds and roots; weeding hoes - which have a hoe on one side and a pronged weeder on the other; and warren hoes - which create furrows for planting seeds in rows. Garden hoes are made of heavy-duty steel with wooden handles ($6 to $15 online) or stainless steel (starting at $35 online). Most are coated with epoxy paint to prevent rusting and should last you an entire lifetime of gardening.
