Garden Shears

Garden shears are also commonly called pruners or loppers, and are used to trim and reshape plants in your garden and the shrubbery around your home. A quality pair of pruners won't only be easier on the hands and arms; they will also cut plants cleaner and not chop or tear at plants. There are three types of garden shears available to gardeners - anvil, ratchet and bypass shears. Anvil pruners have a straight blade that closes down like a knife against another fixed straight blade. Ratchet pruners are anvil pruners that are easier on the hands if you are doing a lot of pruning because they cut in stages. Bypass pruners cut cleanly and smoothly using two curved blades that bypass each other like a pair of scissors. Anvil and ratchet pruning shears start at $20 online. Bypass shears can cost between $45 and $75 online.
