Mailboxes are not only practical, but they can also be used to make a statement in any yard. Mailboxes typically come in two styles - curb-side mailboxes and wall-mounted mailboxes. Both types of mailboxes are available in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors and designs. For example mailboxes in the shape of cows, trains, tractors, Harley Davidson motorcycles, sports team logos, patriotic colors and just about any design you can imagine. If you can't find the shape or design you are looking for, there are many woodworkers and online manufacturers who will custom-design a mailbox for you. Most mailboxes are made of powder coated aluminum, galvanized steel, cast iron, copper or metal. When made with these materials, mailboxes are weather proof. Many novelty mailboxes are also made of weather treated wood, although these won't be as durable. Mailboxes usually cost between $30 and $40 online. They make great house-warming, birthday or Christmas gifts.
