Lightning Rods

Lightning rods are both functional and decorative and are designed to redirect the current away from a structure and into the ground. The lightning is redirected by the rod through an attached copper or aluminum cable which is buried in the ground. Most lightning rods are designed to fit any roof pitch and will usually come with detailed installation instructions. Because installing a lightning rod is a difficult and dangerous process, you might want to consider hiring a professional to install it for you. It's important to note that copper components should never be used on aluminum surfaces and aluminum should never be used on copper surfaces. Lightning rods can also be very decorative and may include one or a few ceramic colored balls. If you already have a lightning rod, you can buy the decorative accessories separately.
