Gazing Balls

Gazing balls add eye-catching color and fairytale whimsy to your garden. They are easily found online as stand-alone ornaments or as an added accessory on a garden statue, weather vane, lightning rod or garden fountain. Stepping stones come in a variety of unique designs and colors so it's wise to go with a gazing ball that will flatter all of the existing color in your garden's plants and blooms. Gazing balls are most typically made of blown glass but can also be formed out of stainless steel or copper. Gazing balls are said to bring good luck to their owners by keeping evil at bay. Gazing balls of different colors are said to symbolize different things - for example red is known to symbolize love and faith, so they are often thrown by brides on their wedding day. When purchased to accessorize a bird bath, fountain or statue, gazing balls can cost anywhere from $20 to $100, depending on the size and material of the ball.
