Built-in barbecues, or grill inserts, can be purchased from almost any online hardware retailer. Barbecue inserts are comprised of the basic barbecue elements - the grill head (or main body), the burners, ashtray (for charcoal grills) and the cooking grates. All you will need to decide is if you want a gas or charcoal insert. If you don't have any masonry know-how pre-fabricated 'grill islands' in all sizes are available online for between $5,000 and $10,000. You simply place the grill insert into the grill island. Another option is to build a brick island, which is similar to the structure of a brick barbecue, if you're masonry savvy. A propane barbecue insert costs between $500 and $3,000 online, and a charcoal barbecue insert is priced between $150 and $1,000 online.
